Return Link System for Satellite TV Applications. (Patent Pending)

This is a low cost satellite data return link which may be used to interactively demand the broadcast of data or video for business or 'Direct to Home' using a low power Ku Band Transmitter with a 90cm dish. The return is 16 KB/s burst mode data using rapid aquisition. Frequency detection, demodulation and clock recovery algorithms have been successfully imlemented in real time using Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Signal aquisition, demodulation and clock recovery synchronisation are acheived within just 1ms (32 symbols), allowing message data to be successfully decoded for forward error correction and off-line processing.

The use of MPEG-2 compressed digital TV will allow increased TV channel capacity offering more TV services than that used by conventional analogue broadcasting. These new broadcast services 'Direct to Home' can include Internet, video on demand, armchair shopping facilities and many other interactive services. For user interaction, clearly a return link direct to the service provider is required.

THIS system meets all these requiremants.
